Our First Date: Episode 3 Review of My Happy Marriage

If you’re in need of some cuteness to take your mind off things, then episode 3 of My Happy Marriage is the perfect remedy. It’s filled with the excitement of a first date and the slow blossoming of love, making it an absolute treat to watch.

Let’s Go on a Date

During dinner, Kiyoka invites Miyo to town for a shopping trip. He asks her to wear the furisode she wore on the day she arrived, and to be ready to go out with him. On the day of their outing, Yurie helps Miyo with her makeup. When Kiyoka sees her, he is in awe of her beauty.

Kiyoka takes Miyo to a fabric store that his family has been loyal to for years. They pick out fabric for kimonos, and the shop owner is captivated by Miyo’s presence. She urges Kiyoka not to let Miyo slip away, calling her a diamond in the rough. The shop owner even gives Kiyoka a comb to gift to Miyo.

Sweets and Treats Date

For the second part of their date, Kiyoka takes Miyo to a sweets shop, where she indulges in a delicious dessert. Kiyoka encourages Miyo to always be open and honest with him, and he expresses his desire to see her smile more and apologize less.

As their date continues, Miyo can’t help but worry that Kiyoka doesn’t know about her lack of magical abilities. She fears that once he finds out, he will no longer want to be with her. Despite this, she decides to cherish their time together until the truth is revealed.

After returning home, Kiyoka tells Yurie about the comb he gifted to Miyo. Yurie explains that the comb is a sign of love and engagement, but Kiyoka believes it to be just a simple gift. When Miyo discovers the comb, she genuinely smiles, and Kiyoka is moved by her happiness.

Family Problems

Meanwhile, during the date, we catch a glimpse of Miyo’s father speaking with the head of the Tatsuishi family. The head is furious because Miyo was supposed to marry his eldest son. Miyo’s mother, from the Usaba family, is said to possess extraordinary powers. Miyo’s father seems unfazed, knowing that Miyo doesn’t possess such powers. However, the head insists that these powers could be inherited by Miyo’s children.

The Truth

The episode concludes with Kiyoka obtaining information about Miyo’s upbringing. He learns about the terrible treatment she endured at home and realizes that kimonos alone won’t be enough to heal her from this trauma.

As Kiyoka leaves his office, he notices shikigami, in the form of origami cranes, spying on him from the sky. He uses his fire abilities to shoot them down and wonders who could be behind this intrusion.

What’s To Come

It’s heartwarming to see Kiyoka’s determination to treat Miyo well and help her become her authentic self. Although he may not fully understand his own motivations, we, as viewers, can see that he’s head over heels for her. As the story progresses, I’m excited to witness his growing awareness of his feelings and their journey together.

I remain hopeful that Miyo’s despicable family will face the consequences they deserve. It’s likely that the Tatsuishi family is behind the spying shikigami, as the head is determined not to let Miyo be with the Kudo family. However, good luck to him if he thinks Kiyoka will let Miyo go. Perhaps he should direct some of that energy towards Miyo’s father, who is truly detestable.
