Suntory Beverage & Food Limited is pleased to announce that The Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water & Asa-zumi Orange*1 will be released nationwide on Tuesday, April 8 in Japan.

*1 100% organic orange harvested exclusively in the morning.

In recent years, bottled water products (such as mineral water, flavored water and sugar-free carbonated water) have been hot-selling beverage products. Our offerings have included the Suntory Natural Mineral Water product family, such as Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water and Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water Sparkling. This brand achieved a high sales level of 74.9 million cases last year (up 18% year-on-year).

While flavored water generally does not contain any fruit juice, we decided to offer a new Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water product containing 100-percent organic orange juice. We employed a new production method in order to take advantage of this fresh ingredient and have produced The Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water & Asa-zumi Orange. We believe that this new product will further contribute to the vitalization of this successful water beverage market.

● Product features

(1) Meticulous selection of ingredients

We use 100-percent organically grown oranges in order to obtain a flavor of freshly squeezed oranges and orange peel. With the Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water as a base, only oranges harvested in the morning are used.*2&3 Our own unique production technique enables us to extract the flavor of pure orange juice while maintaining the aroma of fresh-squeezed oranges in the product.

*2 We procure certain lots of oranges that have been harvested in the morning from selected orange producers. *3 Juice content is 1% of the product.

(2) A new production method to take advantage of the freshness of the oranges

When fruit juice is used in flavored water, the water must be treated at a high temperature during the production process. High temperatures tend to destroy the flavor and aroma of fruit. We have devised new techniques to minimize the application of heat used in production and have been successful in capturing the freshness of the oranges.

● Labeling

The design of the label is straightforward. An illustration of juicy oranges has been added to the original fresh and clean image label of the Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water. In order to demonstrate the meticulousness in the selection of ingredients, the phrase “Contains 100% organically-grown fruit” has been added to the label.

●Advertisements

The Suntory Minami-Alps Natural Mineral Water & Asa-zumi Orange will be broadly advertised using TV commercials and advertisements on public transportation.

We position the Suntory Natural Mineral Water as a core brand for our business in Japan. In order to secure the No. 1 position* in the mineral water market and to reinforce the power of the brand, we intend to actively promote the rich natural environment of the water sources which include the Southern Alps area as the image of this brand.
