The MAPPA Channel has just released an exciting new Vinland Saga Season 2 short called “Same old story.” In this Episode 18.5, Ketil delivers a powerful speech to the men on his farm, preparing them for Canute’s impending arrival with violence.

“Answer me, Norsemen!!” Ketil bellows in the middle of the short. “How do you repay those who come to steal your fields?!” And the resounding answer is, “With blood!!”

This isn’t the first time that Vinland Saga Season 2 has treated us to these short episodes. In February, we saw Episode 6.5, “Drowning in the Shadow.”

Vinland Saga Season 2 premiered on January 9, and fans can catch it on Netflix and Crunchyroll outside of Japan. The first season of Vinland Saga aired back in 2019.

The anime is based on the manga by Makoto Yukimura published by Kodansha since 2005. As of May 2022, the manga has 26 tankoubon volumes and is currently serialized in Monthly Afternoon magazine. Kodansha USA describes the manga as:

As a child, Thorfinn sat at the feet of the great Leif Ericson and thrilled to wild tales of a land far to the west. But his youthful fantasies were shattered by a mercenary raid. Raised by the Vikings who murdered his family, Thorfinn became a terrifying warrior, forever seeking to kill the band’s leader, Askeladd, and avenge his father. Just like Season 1, produced by WIT STUDIO, Vinland Saga Season 2 has an impressive staff. Shuhei Yabuta serves as the director, Hiroshi Seko as the series composer, Abiru Takahiko as the character designer, Yusuke Takeda as the art director, Yuki Kawashita as the photography director, Satoshi Hashimoto as the color designer, and Yutaka Yamada as the music composer.

For Season 2, Hashimoto is collaborating with Minori Nishita as the color designer, while Kawashita shares photography directorial duties with Hisashi Matsumuko (known for Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!). Additionally, Kouhei Ogawa serves as the 3DCG director, taking over from Season 1’s Mayu Takehana.

The cast of Vinland Saga Season 2 includes Yuuto Uemura as Thorfinn, Kenshou Ono as Canute, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Einar, Mayumi Sako as Arnheid, Yuu Hayashi as Olmar, Taiten Kusunoki as Thorgil, Hideaki Tezuka as Ketil, and Mugihito as Sverkel.
