The Seven Deadly Sins is a licensed Netflix Original anime series based on the manga of the same name by author Nakaba Suzuki. When the series first dropped on Netflix in late 2015, it became a smash hit with subscribers, and before long, the anime became the flagship anime for the streaming service.

Season 6: What’s the Status?

The Seven Deadly Sins was not subject to cancellation. The reason why the series hasn’t been renewed is simply that all of the story and source material from the manga has been covered in the anime. With a total of 100 episodes, the anime has successfully adapted all 41 volumes and 342 chapters of the manga.

To put it simply, the anime has reached a natural and conclusive end.

What About Movies?

By comparison to other popular anime franchises, The Seven Deadly Sins has been reserved in releasing movies. So far, we’ve only received two movies, “Prisoners of the Sky” (2019) and “Cursed by Light” (2021). This number pales in comparison to franchises like Naruto, which saw the release of eleven movies between 2004 and 2015.

However, considering the popularity of The Seven Deadly Sins and the fact that we’ve already seen a movie that extends beyond the end of the series, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more movies in the near future.

An Anime Spin-Off?

Fans will be thrilled to learn that Nakaba Suzuki, the author of The Seven Deadly Sins, is already working on the sequel manga, “Four Knights of the Apocalypse.” Currently, there are 35 published chapters of the new manga.

While there may not be enough manga chapters for an anime adaptation at the moment, it’s highly possible that Studio Deen will start working on the anime within a year.

The Story of Four Knights of the Apocalypse

“Four Knights of the Apocalypse” follows the story of Percival, the son of the Camelot holy knight Ironside. He learns that he is destined to become the Knight of Death of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse, an order of Holy Knights prophesized by King Arthur Pendragon to bring destruction to the world.

The Return of Characters

The story has focused on the events of “Four Knights of the Apocalypse” and hasn’t revealed what The Seven Deadly Sins have been up to since the end of their story. However, considering that the new series takes place 16 years after the events of The Seven Deadly Sins and the many romantic pairings we’ve seen throughout the series, it’s safe to assume that we’ll eventually see the children of Meliodas and Elizabeth, King and Diane, and Ban and Elaine.
