HIDIVE has just announced that the world premiere of The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season will be hosted at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California next month. This premiere, presented in partnership with Kadokawa, will showcase the first episodes of the second season with both English subtitles and dub versions.

The returning production staff for The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season boasts a talented lineup. Kazuya Nakanishi, known for his work as the assistant director of Comic Girls and main animator of Vivid Strike!, will be directing the second season. Kanichi Katou (Those Snow White Notes) will serve as the series screenwriter, and Makoto Iino (Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town) will be the character designer. Animation production will be handled by Nexus.

The anime is based on the isekai light novels by Daisuke Aizawa, with illustrations from Touzai. Since its initial release by Kadokawa on November 5, 2018, the series has gained immense popularity, with five volumes published as of December 2022. The light novels have also inspired a manga series by Anri Sakano and a manga spin-off by Seta U.

The first season, consisting of 20 episodes, aired in Japan from October 5, 2022, to February 15, 2023. HIDIVE streamed the first season, which follows the thrilling story of Cid, a master of manipulation and deception. Transported to another world, Cid becomes the unexpected leader of the underground Shadow Garden organization, fighting against a menacing cult that he himself concocted. Little did he know, his power fantasy would clash with the real existence of the cult, leaving him in a precarious position.
